I'm not sure I'd call CNN non-partisan, but they do have a pretty good article on the plan, as follows:

http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/23/pf/taxes/health_proposal_effect/index.htm

Logipundit, please use your html skills to turn this into a hyperlink. Thanks.

correction, by the way, Rangel wasn't saying that it SHOULD be shifted to the employees but that it WOULD under the President's proposal.

I believe that it would AND it should.

Big shock; I disagree with Charlie Rangel.

The remainder of the speech was not that impressive, even though I agree with him on principle in Iraq.

But if I hear another rousing speech on the virtues of ethanol, I think I'm going to cry. It's a political football that plays well in the midwest...and it's more political than it is scientifically sound.

Haven't researched the health plan yet, but I did hear (via the Post) that Ted Kennedy released a memo immediately calling it a new tax break to the rich and useless for working families...and various other class warfare garbage. This is of course the opposite of what his plan actually does.

Mr. Rangel, our illustrious new Ways and Means chairman, called it ""A dangerous policy that ultimately shifts cost and risk from employers to employees." I'm in agreement with Mr Rangel that more of the cost and responsibility should be shifted to the employees.

What many don't realize is that the companies they are working for are not really paying for their benefits, they are just administering their benefits. Who doesn't think a typical salary would go up as a result of employees taking more responsibily for their health coverage.

Smallish companies would be more competitive for one, if it wasn't a foregone conclusion that if you don't offer "great benefits" you won't attract top talent. The self employed will be able to pursue their dreams more easily without having the pressure to work part-time simply for the benefits.

Is there a good (preferably non-partisan) site on the benefits or downfalls of this plan of Bush's?
