Student Free-Speech Rights Limited
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court tightened limits on student speech Monday, ruling against a high school student and his 14-foot-long “Bong Hits 4 Jesus” banner.
Schools may prohibit student expression that can be interpreted as advocating drug use, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the court in a 5-4 ruling.
Joseph Frederick unfurled his homemade sign on a winter morning in as the Olympic torch made its way through Juneau, Alaska, en route to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Frederick said the banner was a nonsensical message that he first saw on a snowboard. He intended the banner to proclaim his right to say anything at all.

Hey, wasn’t there a third one? Just caught a little blip on the radio this morning about 3 Supreme Court decisions:
1) Changing McCain Feingold (Yaaay)
2) Limiting Free-Speech as it pertains to “encouraging drug use”
(Booo).
3) ??? They weren’t talking about the District Court about the guy with the pants, were they?

No. There was actually eight decisions to be handed down by the USSC but I haven’t researched the other cases.
The pants case was a district court case, but the judge should have dismissed that case before trial instead of dragging those poor Korean immigrants through the mud (and breaking thier bank account).
