Not sure yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised. This is a truly sad story from India. This illustrates a disturbing trend. Authoritarian governments like Russia and China have much more leverage in suppressing dissent through violence, rendering their opposition, such as the Tibetans or Georgians, neutral or annihilated. Democracy in a pluralistic society does not suppress splinter groups and as such groups can self-organize to mass criteria, resulting in this kind of targeted terror. If India were to turn a blind eye to civil liberties following this incident, I don’t think there would be many complaints from us.
UPDATE: Sources say that the terrorists were not British nationals but likely Pakistani in origin.
